Level C - LCSW (Licensed Certified Social Worker) License

Overview:

The Certified Social Work License is issued to an applicant with a master's degree in social work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited social work program, has completed two years post-masters social work practice experience, and passed the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Advanced Generalist level state social work exam. An application and appropriate fee are required as well as verification of licensure in good standing from the applicable State Social Work Board(s) where the applicant is or has ever been licensed as a social worker.

§30-30-11. Scope of practice for a Licensed Certified Social Worker.

 A licensed certified social worker may:

  1. Perform all duties within the scope of practice of a licensed graduate social worker and licensed social worker;
  2. Apply social work theory and methods to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychological dysfunction, disability or impairment, including emotional and mental disorders and developmental disabilities; and
  3. Determine behavioral health diagnosis, using diagnostic taxonomies commonly accepted across disciplines among behavioral health professionals.
